What is Andemos
ANDEMOS aims to mobilize Christians (or people who share the values of Christianity), from different countries throughout the world who desire to serve and build relationships with the most vulnerable in different Latin American countries, letting themselves be transformed by the God of justice and compassion. This program is run within the framework of the service done by Paz y Esperanza (Peace and Hope) and other Christian organizations in this part of the world.
ANDEMOS is a collaborative effort of people who work for peace, social justice, local community development and the defense and protection of the environment.
"Paz y Esperanza" and the organizations associated with ANDEMOS defend and protect the human rights of women, children, families displaced by political violence, indigenous peoples and other marginalized groups.
ANDEMOS aims to stimulate exchange and mutual learning between people from different countries and cultures. It encourages learning from practical experience and serving with people who have years of experience in the aforementioned areas.
In ANDEMOS we seek volunteers from the North and South, diverse professions, women and men, people of different ages, Christians from different backgrounds and denominations, etc.
ANDEMOS is a program of PAZ Y ESPERANZA INTERNATIONAL that aims to contribute to the renovation and strengthening of a generation of Christians who act as servant-leaders, with a clear vision of integral mission, with a commitment to the transformation of their lives and the society in which they live.
An element that distinguishes ANDEMOS from other volunteer programs is that we have a permanent presence in different cities in Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia and work with a network of organizations in other countries in South America. Our volunteers are placed in programs and development projects that are already in progress in the communities were we work. ANDEMOS is also a program born out of the initiative of Christians from countries in both the South and North, with affiliated offices in the USA and Great Britain. As such, we can understand the priorities and necessities of people who desire to work for justice and peace in our world.
PAZ Y ESPERANZA (PEACE AND HOPE) is an organization that was founded by a group of Peruvian evangelical Christians in 1996, but since then it has expanded to other Andean countries and has a recognizes staff of professionals, specialists in human rights, social justice, advocacy, psychological rehabilitation of victims of different types of abuse, peaceful conflict resolution, environmental protection, etc.
The PEACE AND HOPE PARTNERSHIP INTERNATIONAL office is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. More information can be found at www.peaceandhopeinternational.org
