Comprehensive Rehabilitation Area

Doing justice goes far beyond the courtroom!  The victims of abuse whom Paz y Esperanza serves need a lawyer to stand up for their rights in court, but they also desperately need a psychologist, a friend, a social worker, a caretaker, a teacher, and a nurse to walk beside them in the long healing process following abuse and violence.

Paz y Esperanza is dedicated to providing comprehensive rehabilitation (“rehabilitación integral”) to the women, children, adolescents, and families who come to them through group and individual therapy, counseling, home visits, recreational activities, basic health care, meeting with families, etc.  If you fit volunteer profile, come and join Paz y Esperanza in replacing lies and violence with truth and love in the lives of children, adolescents, and women in Latin America!

Amelia’s Story

“My interactions with the staff, social worker, psychologists, and children at the shelter have provided insight when working with aftercare for vulnerable populations. Overall, I have been exposed to intervention planning and workshops with victims of domestic violence, witnessed reconciliation sessions for vulnerable families with social workers, psychologists, and lawyers, completed home visits to impoverished areas, and spent nights at the shelter to build relations and provide aftercare to the victims of sexual abuse. This internship has been an incredible experience and I am more than appreciative for the generous hospitality of Paz y Esperanza.”
